Mikhail Khursevich

Born in Minsk, until the age of ten Mikhail was only interested in mathematics. In high-school he started taking photographs and in order to do it professionally, he got into the Faculty of Screen Arts of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. With time he understood that he was more into film than photography, so when he was just 19, he spent six months in Norilsk, filming his first documentary on sheer enthusiasm: with hardly any experience he delved into polar days and nights with temperatures ranging from -56°C to +27°C. Since then he has been constantly testing his limits: having been arrested on the Chinese-Tibetan border he miraculously evaded prison, he walked on rooftops and building cranes, went to war and was almost stabbed to death by assassins.
